Overview

The landscape plan for White Pine residential development aims to preserve natural vegetation wherever possible, and use existing natural communities to inspire new plantings. The low area in center of the site functions in several ways: as a stormwater infiltration/detention area, wildlife habitat, and an attractive amenity for residents. Most plantings adjacent the undisturbed areas will consist of native species, effectively extending the effect--both aesthetic and ecological--of the site’s natural attributes. Mown lawn is used sparingly, in favor of plants that require fewer inputs of water and fertilizer, and that more effectively slow and filter runoff.
